Trick or Treat???

Halloween is already a fun time of year!  Dressing up to trick people and getting candy is always fun..... No matter how old you may be!!  I enjoy dressing up for Halloween myself.  One year a couple years ago, I dressed as a stick person... yes, a stick person.  I used the glow bracelets and necklaces and taped them to my clothes and around my head and it made the form of a stick person glowing in the dark.  That was by far one of my favorite and most fun costumes.  Now, I also enjoy dressing up children to take bright and colorful photos to remember this fun and spooky holiday.  Here are some pics of Addison's October photo session.  Don't  let this adorable smile fool you... she didn't want to take these pics with us the other day but we managed to make it work!!!  She is such a beauty and her eyes just sparkle!!

I'm Baaaaack!!

SO.......  I know I have neglected my blog once again.  What's a better way to come back for a visit than coming back with photos of one of my favorite types of photo sessions???  It all starts with CAKE and BALLOONS and LOTS of COLOR......  Bright, beautiful color!!!  And of course we can't forget the star of these shoots..... The beautiful babies celebrating their completion of their first year here with us!!! These shoots are definitely one of my favorites.  How can one not like to make a ginormous mess with sugary sweet colorful icing and tasty cake??  The mess is nothing compared to the fun that each of these wonderful little people have while we photograph and create memories of their 1 year celebration!!  With that being said, I hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed creating them!!

Tavern Wedding

Weddings are always an interesting event to photograph... You get to see so many different venues and decorating ideas and you always get to meet many, many new people.  When Dawn called me and asked if I was available to photograph her wedding, I was excited to find out that 1.) she was marrying someone who I had met before.  (a friend and hay customer of my husband) and 2.) she would be getting married at the Hanover Tavern.  Being born and raised in Hanover county, I know the history of the place and thought it was awesome to photograph a wedding there!  I was also informed by Dawn, that she did some modeling so it's a win-win situation to me.... Awesome venue for pics and beautiful bride to photo!  It was a super hot day out so we tried not to be outside too incredibly long, but I think we were able to get some fantastic memories caught on film that day.... well I guess we should say caught on memory cards since I don't shoot with film too much while on a job.  I do miss the dark room though, but that's a story for another day.  For now you can check out a few of the photos from Dawn and Neal's special day!!

It's July???

The time seems to fly by so quickly now.  I remember when I was a kid, it seemed to take forever for summer to get here.  It seems summer has come and is getting close to being half way over.  I apologize for being behind on posting on my blog.  I am trying,... really I am!!!  I have done so many things since my last blog post.  I have photographed several weddings, some newborns, a dance school and their recital (which was a ton of fun), a local baseball league, some AWESOME families and even taken some maternity photos.    I do seem to have workaholic tendencies..... When I really enjoy something, I kinda go overboard!  I am also preparing to ride my bicycle across the state of Missouri with my uncle and a couple of others in an effort to raise money for the Massey Cancer Center with the Ride for Jim organization. (Feel free to visit the Ride for Jim website and make a donation http://www.rideforjim.org/. It's a great organization!!)  I am one of those people that has a really hard time saying no when people ask me to do something or help with something..... I guess that's why a lot of my own projects get started and take FOREVER to finish.....   So instead of showing another one of my recent session photos, I will let you glimpse into my life a little bit.  As many already know, I live on a farm and many in my family are farmers.  We have just been going through part of the busiest season in crop farming that we have.  In between being photographer, Mom, wife, and all that good stuff..... I find time to help my husband and uncle a little and drive the tractor around the field a little bit.  On occasion, I find myself in one of the Stack wagons picking up the bales of straw or hay.... but I would much rather be behind the wheel of a tractor.  (There is less that can go wrong in a tractor... :P)  We farm hay, but my uncle farms wheat and other crops.  For the past month it has been wheat harvesting time and we help get up the straw behind him.  Here are a few pics of where I live and what we do....

A Country Day

I had the pleasure of spending a good portion of the day with the wonderful and adorable faces of Country Day School.  It turned out to be a nice day, a little warm, but overall the weather was good.  I got to see many faces that I know and also got to meet some new faces.

I was thrilled when I was contacted by CDS and asked if I wanted to photograph their children for their spring portraits.  At the time I really had no Idea how many kids I would be photographing.  I mean, I knew they had a lot of children, but I had no clue.... We made the arrangements and when the time came, I arrived at CDS during spring break on a Wednesday morning.  We began immedietally and I had a blast working with these kids!!!  Some of them really made me work to get those adorable smiles but in the end, they did a great job.  I have to thank Donna and Emily for all of their help with the children through out the day and for the glasses of water and crackers to munch on.  The ladies at CDS really do a great job working with all the children that come to them and I commend them!!  Here are some of my favorites from the day.
